Come to the NC Zoo and visit the Honey Bee Garden – it has a wonderful ambiance, a successful demo hive, lots of honey bee art and more!

My Austrian Oma (grandmother) had a beehouse! About 15′ long, 12′ high and 4-5′ deep. A lovely garden fronted the house, and we’d wander thru that garden looking for bees
grounded by too much pollen on their legs. Oma would speak Bee-Talk to it while she coaxed it onto her finger, then placed it in front of one of 40 small openings into the hive. My life-long dream has been to own enough land to build a BeeHouse of my own. Maybe next lifetime?

Hello Rosemarie, thank you so much for sharing this. Would have loved to have seen your grandmother’s bee house. I so appreciate your sharing this. Many blessings to you and your family.

Rosemarie, for some reason I was unable to read the whole of your message until I responded. I just read the last part of your message about wandering through the garden, looking for bees grounded by lots of pollen on their legs and your Oma speaking Bee-Talk and taking those bees to the hive. I have done the same thing. Very precious to hear about your grandmother. I am sure the bees will help you realize your dream. My email is debra@holybeepress.com or Debra Roberts on Facebook when (!) you get bees and if you have any questions about them. Many blessings, Debra
